Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival X: The Good, the Bad and the Bacon
The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival is known for wacky themes that bacon-lovers embrace year after year, “A western theme just makes sense because the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival is lawless, just like the old west,” said Brooks Reynolds, Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival Chair and Cofounder. “Rules don’t - and shouldn’t -- apply to bacon. But goldarnit those Bacon Bandits do need to be corralled.”
The LAUNCH PARTY (aka: come hear more):
Friday, November 4, 2016; 5:00-7:00PM
5:30 Announcement speech by Brooks Reynolds
El Bait Shop, 200 SW 2nd St, Des Moines, IA 50309
FREE Berkwood Farms Bacon and OHHH PALE LAGER (til it runs dry)
Open to the public
Vintage BaconFest t-shirt giveaways
Brooks Reynolds and other Iowa Bacon Board member available for interviews
“We thought the TEN-year anniversary is a good time to lay tribute to the origins of bacon – or rather its unsmoked cousin, ‘salt pork’- which was a main entrée for many a railroad worker, outlaw, cowboy and cowgirl alike (not necessarily in that order),” added Reynolds.
Giddy-Up w/ Thematic Video:
The Iowa Bacon Board has been hard at work creating a guitar-slinging, outlaw-wrangling, cowgirl-saving video to promote this year’s wild-west theme. Click on the image below to take a gander.
