The Iowa Bacon Board, organizers of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, have officially announced that the 11th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival will return to the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa on February 17, 2018. For the first time ever bacon-lovers of all ages will be invited to attend, with limited access to those under the age of 21. The ticket sales date and annual theme will be announced in November.
ALL AGES will have access to the first two levels of the Iowa Events Center which will feature:
Level 1: Bacon Education Center
Bacon-inspired lectures, cooking demonstrations, young bacon lover’s activities and the opportunity to earn Bacon Diplomas from the prestigious Blue Ribbon Bacon University.
Level 2: Bacon Fellowship Hall
When bacon enthusiasts aren’t feeding their brains with knowledge, they can fill their stomachs by tasting among nearly 100 bacon-inspired dishes, sampling over 25 varieties of bacon and indulging in a variety of beverages. Attendees will also be able to enjoy a number of bands and bacon-inspired contests featured on the mainstage.
Only those 21 AND OVER will be permitted on the top two levels of the building which will feature:
Level 3: The Bacon Strip
Six interactive themed bars offering a number of craft cocktails, beers, bacon sampling, bacon-inspired dishes and a variety of entertainment.
Level 4: Club Sizzle
Dance off the bacon in Club Sizzle. The pop-up Vegas-style night club will feature DJs and professional dancers. This level will not be for the faint of heart, seriously dudes. Seriously.
Seth Hall, VP of Bacon Enjoyment, explained, “Under 21 year old bacon fans have been attending our festivals in Keystone, Colorado and Reykjavik, Iceland for the past seven years. And in Des Moines we’ve offered a separate event, Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival JR, at the Science Center of Iowa for young bacon-lovers. So, it made sense for us to include young “Baconeeres” in our premier event.” Mr. Hall paused and broke into song, “We believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way…”
