On Saturday, September 29th, Chef Dominic Iannarelli will be returning to Kofu, Japan with the hopes of adding one more plaque to his trophy room. Last November, Iannarelli partnered with Japan’s Chef Mitsuru Yoneyama to win the “Best Dish” award at the Inaugural Japan Bacon Festival with a perfectly cooked bacon-wrapped grape. This year, he’s adding pork loin to his game by serving a thinly shaved marinated pork sandwich with tangy papaya slaw and slab bacon on a toasted hoagie.
Chef Iannarelli, Director of Splash Seafood and Jethro’s BBQ, explained, “This sandwich is a game changer. My marinade incorporates some unique Japanese flavors that pair perfectly with the salty smokiness of American-style bacon. Then the cold papaya slaw just takes it over the top creating an explosion of sweet, salty and tangy goodness”
Luckily, you don’t have to travel all the way to the Japan Bacon Festival in Kofu to bite into this heavenly dish. Chef Dom’s “Japan Bacon Festival Pork Loin Sandwich” is available for tasting at Jethro’s BBQ ‘N Bacon Bacon located at 1480 22nd St in West Des Moines from now through Tuesday, September 18. The sandwich is served with your choice of side for $9.95.
